Amida Deen (b. 2001, Hackney, East London) is a British-Sierra Leonean artist whose work reflects the perspective of a child of the diaspora. Rooted in the Black British experience and celebrating her Sierra Leonean heritage, her practice explores themes of identity, memory, and place. Working primarily in oil paint, Deen creates fictional characters inspired by everyday life, capturing the vibrancy of working-class communities and the subtleties of growing up in Hackney. Shaped by personal memory and influenced by film, her paintings blur the line between the familiar and the ambiguous, infused with emotional warmth and cultural depth.
